Salmah Almansoori’s practice investigates identity, memory, and place through painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, video, and site-specific installation. Rooted in her hometown of Ghayathi, UAE, her work draws from its desert landscapes and the lived experiences of its inhabitants, capturing the quiet intersections of unrecorded histories, transformation, and environment. Through her practice, Almansoori distils and translates these elements into visual expressions that convey the richness and complexity of human experience in relation to place, revealing subtle dialogues between memory and environment.
Through Silent Narratives, Almansoori transforms overlooked objects and fragments of everyday life into layered visual compositions. Each work becomes both documentation and transformation, an archive of memory shaped through expressionist abstraction, where the boundaries between drawing and painting, past and present, begin to dissolve. Translating memory, time, and place into contemplative frames, the works invite viewers to pause and reflect on the subtle intersections of objects, environment, and human experience.
